Fulvic Acid
The smallest molecule in humus, small enough to penetrate cell walls. It carries minerals IN and toxins OUT. The missing link in most detox protocols.
Quick Facts
Also Called
Fulvates, Part of Humic Substances
Tradition
Shilajit (Ayurveda), Modern Soil Science
Primary Use
Mineral transport, cellular detox, nutrient absorption
Form
Liquid concentrate, powder, shilajit resin
What It Is
Fulvic acid is one of the humic substances, organic compounds formed when plant matter decomposes over millions of years. It's the smallest and most bioactive fraction, with molecular weight low enough to pass through cell membranes.
Think of fulvic acid as a molecular taxi. Its structure allows it to carry up to 60x its weight in minerals and nutrients INTO cells, and to carry waste products and heavy metals OUT. It's why plants in mineral-rich soil are so nutritious, fulvic acid makes the minerals bioavailable.
How It Works
- →Chelation: Binds to minerals and metals (both beneficial and toxic), making them water-soluble and transportable
- →Cell penetration: Low molecular weight allows passage through cell membranes, delivering nutrients directly
- →Electrolyte balance: Helps cells maintain proper mineral ratios and electrical potential
- →Antioxidant: Donates and receives electrons, neutralizing free radicals
Traditional Use
Shilajit:In Ayurveda, shilajit is a tar-like substance from Himalayan rocks, it's primarily fulvic and humic acids. Used for thousands of years as a rejuvenator and strength builder.
Soil science: Modern understanding comes from agricultural research. Fulvic acid is why organic soil-grown food is more nutritious, it makes minerals absorbable by plants.
Depleted soils: Industrial farming has depleted soil fulvic content by 85%. This is one reason modern food is less nutritious, and why supplementation has become relevant.
Dosing Protocol
Liquid Concentrate
15-30 drops in water, 1-2x daily. Start low, detox reactions possible.
Shilajit Resin
Pea-sized amount dissolved in warm water, 1-2x daily. Contains fulvic acid plus additional minerals.
Timing
Best taken with other supplements to enhance their absorption. Can be taken with meals or between.
Contraindications
- • Source matters critically, contaminated sources contain heavy metals
- • Start slow, can mobilize metals and cause detox symptoms
- • Iron overload conditions, fulvic enhances iron absorption
- • Blood thinners, possible interaction; use caution
