Zeolite
A mineral cage that traps heavy metals at the molecular level. Used after Chernobyl for radiation cleanup. Now the most studied binder for mercury, lead, and arsenic.
Quick Facts
Also Called
Clinoptilolite, Natural Zeolite
Tradition
Modern (industrial/medical use)
Primary Use
Heavy metal detox, ammonia binding
Form
Micronized powder, liquid, capsules
What It Is
Zeolites are microporous aluminosilicate minerals formed when volcanic ash meets alkaline water. Over millions of years, a unique honeycomb structure develops — billions of tiny cages that trap and hold heavy metals.
The form used for human detox is clinoptilolite, the most studied and safest zeolite type. After the Chernobyl disaster, tons of zeolite were used to absorb radioactive cesium and strontium. That industrial power, properly processed, is now available for internal detox.
How It Works
- →Cage structure: Zeolite's honeycomb has precise pore sizes that preferentially trap heavy metals based on ionic radius
- →Selectivity: Binds in order: mercury > lead > arsenic > cadmium > aluminum. Doesn't significantly bind beneficial minerals
- →Ionic exchange: Releases calcium and potassium while capturing toxic metals — a swap, not just absorption
- →Ammonia binding: Particularly effective at trapping ammonia, helping with brain fog and liver support
Traditional Use
No traditional use: Zeolite is a modern discovery. Its use comes from industrial and scientific applications, not ancient wisdom.
Chernobyl: Used in 1986 to decontaminate land and animals. 500,000 tons deployed.
Medical research: Studies show significant heavy metal reduction in humans. Also used in dialysis equipment and wound healing.
Dosing Protocol
Powder/Capsules
1-2g daily for maintenance. Up to 5g daily during active detox protocols. Take with water on empty stomach.
Liquid/Spray
Follow product directions — liquid zeolites are more processed and dosing varies by concentration.
Particle Size Matters
Look for micronized (under 5 microns). Smaller particles have more binding sites and don't stay in gut as long.
Contraindications
- • Medications — take 2+ hours apart (less binding risk than charcoal/clay but still caution)
- • Dehydration — drink plenty of water while using
- • Non-purified zeolite — raw zeolite may contain contaminants; only use purified products
- • Kidney disease — consult doctor; metals mobilized need excretion pathway
