Tincture (green hull), capsules, extract
What It Is
Black walnut hull comes from the outer green casing of the black walnut (Juglans nigra), native to North America. The hull must be harvested green, once it turns black, the active compounds degrade rapidly.
The key compound is juglone, a naphthoquinone that's toxic to parasites, fungi, and certain bacteria. This is why nothing grows under black walnut trees, juglone is allelopathic, killing competing plants. That same killing power works inside the gut.
How It Works
- →Juglone toxicity: Disrupts cellular respiration in parasites, effectively suffocating them at the cellular level
- →Tannin action: Astringent tannins help expel parasites and tighten gut tissue
- →Antifungal: Juglone is effective against Candida species and other gut fungi
- →Synergy with clove: Black walnut kills adults; clove kills eggs. Together they break the lifecycle
Traditional Use
Native American: Cherokee and other tribes used black walnut hull for intestinal parasites, ringworm, and skin infections. Applied topically and taken internally.
Hulda Clark Protocol:Dr. Hulda Clark popularized the black walnut + wormwood + clove trio in the 1990s, calling it the "Parasite Cleanse." This combination remains the foundation of most herbal parasite protocols.
